Key Crossing Reliability Initiative

• Project Description

  The Key Crossing Reliability Initiative was a planning, engineering, and construction project to identify a solution for replacing aging transmission circuits under the Patapsco River next to the Key Bridge. BGE assessed various alternatives for replacing these circuits considering environmental impacts, safety, reliability, community impacts, and cost to ratepayers.  After coordination with key environmental agencies and other stakeholders, the final design included the installation of overhead monopoles to carry the transmission circuits and provide redundancy to the system.

• Our Impact

  Assedo Consulting supported communication with key stakeholders throughout the project.  During the development and review of environmental documents, the team facilitated key meetings with stakeholders in support of the required environmental permits. In collaboration with the BGE Project Management team, the outreach team also prepared an engagement and communication strategy, developed educational materials, and shared construction information with community leaders and other agency stakeholders.
